Karen Wills - My 6 Favourite Things                                            27/06/14

Karen who lives in St Tudy is a musical performer, an active member of the St tudy Art group, a Pencarrow guide and a whizz at bowling!

1.  Smarty My cream Burmese cat I love him because he’s the smartest and most beautiful cat in the world.  He is nine and a half years old and as a kitten he chose us he just looked at us and went miaow and I knew he was the one for me.  He is a pedigree pussycat.

2.   The Feather Boa It represents my life on the stage.  I’ve been singing since I was seventeen and professionally since I was twenty two and I am still singing in Newquay on a Tuesday at the Glendoveer Hotel.  I am in a murder mystery group we write and perform our own plays.  I’ve been in musicals.  I am involved in the filming of Poldark at the moment acting as a chaperone for young actors.

3.  Pencarrow Guide Book I am a guide their and I absolutely love being a guide there it is one of the nicest jobs I could ever have.  I love performing and I see speaking for an hour or more about the house is like I’m doing a one woman show as if I am acting a performance.  I love paintings, antiques and beautiful things.  The family are lovely; it is a beautiful garden so it is my ideal job.

4.  Bowling I have been bowling for twenty five years I am a member of Bodmin Bowls Club.  I am their indoor singles champion and two woods single champion I also won the ladies county pairs with my partner Sheila.  When the season starts in September I will be the Cornwall Junior Vice President.

5.  Our Garden I love my garden I have always loved plants I am very interested in growing things from seed, taking cuttings.  We are lucky to live in the beautiful village of St Tudy.  We are very lucky to have such a big garden and we spend a lot of time with the weeds but hopefully with the flowers as well.

6.  My Dog Heidi This is a coloured drawing which I did for my husband of our dog Heidi who has now sadly passed away.  I have got a lot more into my art and I am doing a number of pet portrait commissions at the moment.  I have done several people’s cats and dogs mainly using pastels and I am very happy to be exhibiting currently in the St Tudy Festival Art Exhibition.  I am a member of what was the Clinkers Art Group, but which has now become St Tudy Methodist Art Group.
